Director of Marketing
Full Time | Austin, TX Preferred
IMI is the organization that serious creators and foundations want to be associated with. The Director of Marketing is responsible for growing our audience, deepening our relationships with media institutions, and bringing IMI's mission to the public: connecting people to independent media that informs, inspires, and matters.
You will:
Build and manage IMI's marketing presence across social, email, web, and press
Grow IMI's public audience for 50x50: Science Across America and IMI Fest, connecting people to work that matters
Drive attendance and awareness for IMI Fest
Drive applications for the Sloan Science Prizes for YouTube, ensuring quality and quantity
Develop and execute marketing strategies for IMI's programs in collaboration with the founders
Build IMI's relationships with press, media institutions, and cultural tastemakers
What We're Looking For
3–5 years of experience in marketing, communications, or brand building
A genuine fan of independent online media
Experience marketing cultural institutions, festivals, media organizations, or similar: you understand how to build something people want to be associated with
Strategic thinker who can build a marketing function, not just execute within one
Strong taste: you know what IMI should and shouldn't look like
Equally comfortable with long-term brand strategy and the day-to-day work of building an audience from the ground up
A builder: you want to create something from scratch and grow a team around it over time
Comfortable working closely with founders in a small, fast-moving organization
Compensation & Details
Salary: $90,000+, commensurate with experience
Based in Austin, TX preferred. Relocation assistance available. Remote considered for the right candidate.
